This course focuses on how performance art can engage with and critique technological and societal systems, using acts of refusal and resistance as key themes. Students will examine various forms of performance that challenge technological norms, question power structures, and explore alternative modes of expression. The curriculum includes practical workshops on creating performance pieces that address themes of resistance and refusal, as well as discussions on the role of technology in shaping and disrupting performance practices. Students will also study case studies of performances that engage with technology and resistance. By the end of the course, students will have developed performance works that reflect on and critique technological and societal issues, and gained a deeper understanding of the role of performance in acts of resistance.
